What is Empty Bowls?

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots movement to end hunger through ceramics. Typically a ceramic studio hosts the event and is in charge of producing the ceramic bowls. Then the bowls are sold and the proceeds must be donated towards aiding hunger relief. Click to learn more about Empty Bowls.

How Can I help?

  • Purchase one or more of the 600 bowls created exclusively for Empty Bowls Monrovia. With bowls of all different shapes, sizes, textures, and colors, you are sure to have a challenging time selcting your favorites. These also make great gifts!

  • Purchase Raffle Tickets for our special ceramic raffle, featuring pieces from well-known artists. One complimentary ticket comes with each purchase of a bowl. Additional tickets will be sold for $2 each or 6 for $10.

  • Become a Sponsor! While The Wheelhouse is happy to host this amazing event, there are some necessary expenses that come with doing so. The cost of clay and glaze can be expensive and we are happy to accept sponsorship to help with the overhead costs of running Empty Bowls. As always this is a non-profit event and any remaining funds from sponsorship will be rolled over as a donation for Foothill Unity Center.

  • Make a Donation! If your home and family are already overflowing with beautiful ceramic bowls, we understand and will happily accept any donation to the event.

  • Make a bowl! If you are an experienced potter or handbuilder, we will host a couple of open studio days to make bowls. You are more than welcome to join us or simply drop off a box or two of your own beautiful bowls. Please contact us for more information.
